🥶 Warning: Severe frost!

According to the Estonian Environment Agency forecast, temperatures in some regions may drop below –20 °C this weekend. The Estonian Rescue Board reminds you of safety rules:

♨️ Do not overheat your stove After morning heating, let it cool for at least 8 hours before lighting it again in the evening — this is safer and extends the stove's lifespan.

🪵 Intensive heating is dangerous Especially if the heating system is faulty or poorly maintained. Make sure there is no furniture, carpets, firewood, or other flammable items near the stove, fireplace, or boiler.

⚡️💨 Electric heaters Do not overload the electrical network and never cover appliances with clothing.

🚰 Pipes in frost Poorly insulated pipes can freeze. Thaw them only safely — using a heating cable or fan heater while staying nearby.

⚠️ Detectors are mandatory Every home must have a working smoke detector, and with stove or gas heating — also a carbon monoxide detector.

👨🚒 Advice from rescuers If you have doubts about your home's fire safety, invite rescuers for a consultation through the Rescue Board's safety portal or by calling 1247.
